What this teaches you
Where the line falls
βοΈ What is mechanical
Reading, sorting, extracting, reformatting, summarising. Long tasks whose result can be checked. That's where the hours are.
π§ββοΈ What is judgement
Deciding, arbitrating, committing the business, speaking to a client in your name. That stays yours, permanently.
Your turn Β· practice
List your three chores
Take a sheet of paper. Write down the three tasks you redo every week and dislike most.
Next to each, note how long it takes you today. A rough figure is enough.
For each, note what goes in (a PDF, emails, a spreadsheet) and what must come out.
Keep that sheet: the exercises in the next 19 modules run on your three tasks, not on made-up examples.
β Done when: you have three tasks written down, each with a time next to it. That's your starting point, and your unit of measure.
Check that you've got it
2 quick questions
1. Which task is the best one to hand over?
Long, repetitive, and the result can be checked. Commercial decisions and anything sent in your name stay with you.
2. If a piece of information isn't in your files, what does Claude do?
With no access to the source, it doesn't know. A clear instruction (βtell me what you can't findβ) prevents gaps filled at random.
What to remember
Hand over what is mechanical and checkable: reading, sorting, extracting, reformatting.
Keep what is judgement: deciding, arbitrating, speaking in your name.
Measure the time before, or you'll never know what you gained.
