Spotting Scams Course ยท Module 01

Scams play on your emotions

A scam doesn't trap you with logic, but with emotion: it panics you, rushes you, or dangles a reward โ€” to switch off your common sense. Spot the lever pulled each time. ๐Ÿ‘‡

The game ยท which emotional button?

What is this scam playing on?

๐ŸŽญ Each scam message presses a specific emotional button. Read, and find the lever used.

Decode the 4 messages0 / 4
๐ŸŽญ Recognise the lever, and the trap loses its power. Scams almost always press 4 buttons: fear ("your account has been hacked!"), urgency ("only 2 hours left!"), the lure of gain ("you've won!") and authority/trust ("it's the police / your bank / your boss"). The common thread: they want you to react fast, without thinking. The reflex that saves you every time: the moment a message triggers a strong emotion + pushes you to act right now, stop. Breathe, don't click, verify through another channel (call the real number, go to the official site). A real institution gives you time; a scam never does. It's the through-line of this whole course.
